Golf Contests Between the 9s: A Great Idea!

Having trouble deciding whether you should hold your insured putting contest or million dollar shootout contest before or after your golf tournament?  Don’t feel that you have the time for any golf contests before or after the golf outing?  If the answer is ‘yes’ to either of those questions, then you’ll definitely want to consider having your players qualify, or even participate, in your golf contests “between” the 9s.

After players finish playing the 9th hole on the golf course, have them gather ’round for a chance to sink a 50-foot or longer putt or score a hole in one with one of our various golf contests!  It’s the perfect opportunity to qualify your contestants during this time; otherwise, have them pre-qualify prior to the golf tournament and hold the actual golf contests during that time.  The choice is strictly up to you!

“The great part about the insured golf contests we have to offer is the fact that we’re able to offer flexibility as far as when you’re able to hold them”, notes Kristen Hansen, Marketing Assistant with Hole In One International.  “We realize that each golf tournament will have varying time restraints and we do our best to accommodate each committee’s needs the best we can.  Having the ability to conduct your golf contests between the 9s is a great example of this.”

“A common misconception is the fact that we’re unable to insure a putting contest or million dollar shootout unless an actual golf tournament is taking place”, Hansen adds.  “This is not at all the case, as putting contests and million dollar shootouts can most definitely be insured as stand-alone events.  No tournament?  No problem!”

If you have any other questions about holding golf contests “between the 9s”, don’t hesitate to give Hole In One International a call at 800-827-2249.  You can also email us with any questions!

Ohio Insurance Agency Insures Multiple Golf Contests

Want to turn your next event into a “Golfapalooza” extravaganza?  An insurance agency based out of Ohio recently teamed up with a local sponsor, giving dozens of golfers numerous ways to win in a series of giant prize golf contests.

On the specified promotion date, the following golf contests were insured: a 3-putt combination putting contest, a shootout featuring multiple cups on the green, a 75-yard chipping contest and a ball in the circle contest.

The 3-putt combination putting contest, which consisted of 3 separate putts (10, 30 and 50 ft.), was worth a $10,000 insured prize.  A total of 37 amateur players qualified throughout the golf tournament in order to participate in this golf contest.

The golf shootout, which featured a total of 9 separate cups on the green, was insured for 5 shots per cup!  As far as the prizes available, there was one hole worth a $25,000 camper trailer, one worth a $25,000 boat, one worth a $25,000 vehicle, one worth $25,000 cash… and one worth $1,000,000!  If any of the 5 pre-qualified players were to make a hole-in-one into any one of the 5 insured cups, they’d win the designated prize… and Hole In One International would write the check!

The chipping contest took place on the driving range and also featured 5 contestants.  If any of the 5 contestants were able to chip a golf ball from 75 feet away, they would have scored $10,000.

Last but not least, the ball in the circle contest was also insured for 5 contestants.  If any of them had managed to make the 300-yard shot and if the golf ball landed within the “circle”, which measured 10 feet in diameter, they would have also been paid out $10,000… again, compliments of Hole In One International!

Multiple contests, multiple ways to win!  Want to insure your own “Golfapalooza” event, featuring multiple golf contests?  Give us a call today at 800-827-2249.  You can also email us for a free, no-obligation quote!

Different Committees Within Your Golf Tournament

Whether you’re a first time golf tournament planner or you’ve been coordinating your golf outing for years, it never hurts — nor is it ever too late — to make some major improvements in your planning!  Today, Hole In One International is here to not only stress the importance of assigning different committees within your golf tournament, but also to explain the different types of committees and the responsibilities of each one.

1) The Marketing/PR Chair
While the Marketing/PR Chair’s main focus may appear blatantly obvious to us, there’s one thing to keep in mind: Connections, connections, connections!  Make sure the individual you choose to fill this role has plentiful connections within not only your community, but in the media as well.  The Marketing/PR Chair should actively seek out and seize any/all available promotional opportunities, including activities such as a hole in one contest or putting contest.

2) The Tournament Chair
The Tournament Chair is your golf tournament’s ‘leader.’  Make sure they’re well-connected within your community and are prompt and reliable when it comes to deadlines.  The Tournament Chair is oftentimes also the contact person for people interested in participating and need more information.  Feel free to list their contact information in any brochures, online advertising or any other marketing materials your golf tournament commitee produces.

3) The Sponsorship Chair
Make sure your appointed Sponsorship Chair has sufficient connections within the business community and is a top-notch, experienced salesperson!  This individual will be in charge of acquiring sponsors for the golf tournament and selling them the sponsorships.

4) The Logistics Chair
The Logistics Chair will ideally be responsible for not only budgeting, but managing operations and personnel as well.  The Logistics Chair should ideally be very detail-oriented by nature.  After all, the last thing you or your golf tournament committee want or need is oversight on the Logistic Chair’s part — especially when it comes to your budget and money.

5) The Honorary Chair
This individual will be duly recognized at the golf tournament… and not only through marketing and advertising!  Make sure the person you assign as the Honorary Chair is a prominent figure in your community.  You don’t want just any average joe representing your golf tournament, do you?  Of course not!

6) The Golfer Chair
The Golfer Chair should ideally be a golf enthusiast and will be responsible for recruiting players for the golf tournament.  Being an avid fan of the game and being able to network with other fellow golfers is always helpful when it comes to recruiting players for a golf tournament.

7) The Gift & Prize Chair
The Gift and Prize Chair will be responsible for creating various sponsorship packages and finding deals on the prizes and gifts being offered to them.  Make sure that the sponsorship packages/offers are appealing and that your sponsors are being adequately rewarded for the money they’ll be putting in.  For example, it’s always a good idea to recognize your sponsors with golf sponsor signage.  Remember to clue in the Sponsorship Chair about what your final gift and prize packages will be — it will hopefully make for an easy sale for them!

David Pender Wins $500 VISA Gift Card

Hole In One International would like to congratulate David Pender of The Woodlands, Texas on his hole in one during the Permian Basin Gusher Golf Tournament, which took place on May 20, 2012 at Green Tree Country Club in Midland, Texas!

Pender was fortunate enough to have aced a hole on the golf course that day, which measured approximately 187 yards.  Even more fortunate, Pender ended up being awarded a $500 VISA Gift Card from Hole In One International for his amazing feat!  That’s because when you purchase hole in one insurance coverage through Hole In One International, we’ll supply auxiliary prizes on every par 3 over 165 yards on the course which players can win should they make a hole-in-one on one of those holes!

Although no one won any of the vehicles insured by All American Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge of Odessa that day, there were several opportunities to win an auxiliary prize that day, seeing as how participants played three separate 18-hole courses –  Pender just happened to be the one to overcome the odds!  Congratulations again and we hope you enjoy your complimentary $500!

Interested in receiving a free, no-obligation quote with Hole In One International?  Give us a call at 800-827-2249 or email us if you have any questions.  You can also obtain a quote on our website if you’d prefer.  And remember: we can also help you insure a million dollar shootout and/or putting contest as well!

Club Pros Participating In Your Golf Tournament

Have any Club Professionals participating in your upcoming golf outing?  Great news!  If you’re insuring a hole-in-one contest, Million Dollar Shoot-out or putting contest, you don’t have to exclude them from participating and/or possibly winning the insured prize that’s at stake!

That’s right: Hole In One International will happily insure any/all Club Professionals in your event!  Sure, they’re a little more costly to insure (3x the price of 1 amateur golfer, to be exact) given their skill level; however, when you take the odds into consideration, it makes perfect sense.

Did you know that the odds of an amateur golfer making a hole-in-one are roughly 13,600 to 1, while for professional golfers, those odds are lessened all the way down to 2,500 to 1!

Give your Club Professionals (and even Tournament Professionals!) a chance to win big with a single swing (or putt), compliments of Hole In One International… call us today at 800-827-2249 for a free, no-obligation quote and/or more information!  You can also email us at any time or even go online and obtain a quote, as well as bind your coverage!

Best of luck with your golf tournament this year!

Properly Advertising Your Golf Tournament – Part 2/2

Welcome to part 2 of “Properly Advertising Your Golf Tournament.”  If you didn’t read part 1 earlier this week, make sure to do so before continuing on.

4.)  Sending Out Invitations
It may not seem like it, but something as simple as sending out invitations can be a great way to advertise.  Make sure to personalize them and have them look professional.  Once you’ve fine-tuned the details of your golf tournament, you can then begin sending out those invitations!  You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see how many interested individuals contact you!  Be sure to have multiple methods of contact on your invitation — phone number, email, fax, etc.  Not everyone uses the same one, after all.

5.)  Give Your Sponsors Maximum Exposure
Make sure to properly advertise not only for yourself and your outing, but for your sponsors as well! Purchase sponsor signs featuring the sponsor’s logo (plain text can also be used) and whatever you do, make sure you know where to place the signage to give your sponsors the recognition out on the golf course that they deserve!

6.)  Discounts & Special Offers
Give your players an incentive for registering for your golf tournament prior to the cut-off date by offering a discount on the price of their foursome if they submit payment prior to it.  After the tournament, give players a similar incentive for registering for next year’s tournament on the spot!  And last, but definitely not least, don’t forget to announce if you’re going to be holding any sort of golf contests during your outing – especially ones that involve big prizes, such as a hole in one, Million Dollar Shootout or putting contest!

If you have any additional questions about advertising your golf tournament, or if you’re interested in insuring a hole-in-one or putting contest during your outing, please give us a call today at 800-827-2249.  All of our contest consultants would be happy to help you out!  You can also email Hole In One International as well, if you’d prefer.

Touring Professionals At Your Golf Tournament

Insuring a hole-in-one, million dollar shootout or putting contest at your golf tournament this season?  Have touring professionals in your event?  Make sure not to exclude them from all the fun — Hole In One International will still allow you to insure them!

The price of one touring professional is approximately 5x the price of one amateur.  When we take a look at the three hole in ones that were made during the 2012 Masters Par 3 Tournament a few months back, it only makes sense that they’d cost a bit more to insure, given their skill level.  Touring professionals are a much higher liability in comparison to an amateur player.  Did you know that the odds of a hole in one for amateurs are 13,000 to 1 while for professionals, it’s only 2,500 to 1?  How’s that for putting things into perspective?

Hole In One International also allows club professionals to participate in any of our insured contests as well.  While not as expensive as a touring professional, they’re still pricier than an amateur — 3x the price, to be exact.  But again, just because they’re in your golf outing doesn’t mean you have to have them sit out while everyone else gets to take a swing (or putt) for some major dough.  Nobody likes being left out … especially when it comes to being able to score a big prize!

Have any other questions about including amateurs, club professionals and/or touring professionals at your golf tournament?  Feel free to give us a call at 800-827-2249 or email us!

The Hole-In-One Insurance Process

Have you ever stopped to wonder what exactly happens when you order a hole-in-one insurance, putting contest or million dollar shootout policy?  We’re here today to explain the process to you and hopefully give you a better understanding of how Hole In One International’s process works!

Requesting the Quote
After you have called or emailed us for a free, no-obligation quote, we will either email, fax or send your quote via regular mail, depending on what your preference is.  Once you’ve filled out the necessary paperwork and have sent it back to us (again, via email, fax or snail mail) with payment, it then goes to our accounting department!

Binding the Coverage
Our accounting department will then bind the coverage — which simply means they will process your payment.  Your account status will then change from ‘Pending’ in our system to ‘Sold’, which means the insurance has been paid for and is in place.  At this point, you will receive a confirmation stating that your coverage has been bound.  Accounting will then take the sign order form attached to your paperwork (if applicable) and give it to one of our experienced sign-makers.

Making the Signage: Beginning Stages
An individual from our team will provide artwork for your prize description and then type out the sponsor name which will fill up the 11×17″ printed area of your tee sign.  Or, if you have sent us a logo, they will blow up the image to fit the 11×17″ printed area and print it out.  Once the prize description and sponsor’s name have been printed, the sheets go downstairs to our shipping department.

Making the Signage: Final Stages (& Shipping)
The shipping department will take the two sheets and they will be applied to our standard tee sign.  Keep in mind: this sign may look a bit different if you are insuring a putting contest.  The shipping department will then put your sign into a box with up to 4 of our non-target auxiliary prize signs as well as a coupon for a free tee prize for each golfer in your event (note: these are not included with shootouts or putting contests) and ship them to the specified location on your sign order form via UPS.  You will be sent a tracking number and will be able to track your signs as soon as they leave our location at the end of the business day.

If you have any other questions as to how the hole in one insurance process works, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 800-827-2249 or email us at any time!
