Selling Sponsorships At Your Golf Tournament (Part 2 of 3)

For those of you who haven’t read Part 1 of Selling Sponsorships At Your Golf Tournament, we encourage you to do so before pressing forward.  For those who already have, welcome to part 2; we hope you can pick up some valuable pointers!

Teach Your Committee How To Adequately Sell
As silly as it sounds, it’s vital for your everyone in your committee to be on the same page and know the appropriate sales process. Be sure to set sales goals for each member and start selling early! Be sure to use multiple methods of contact, such as personalized letters, telephone calls or better yet,  personal visits to your potential sponsors. Instruct your committee to ask open-ended questions, have an objective prior to each sales presentation, listen carefully to what your sponsor has to say, implement the necessary follow-up steps and last, but not least,  follow up!

The 3rd and final part of Selling Sponsorships At Your Golf Tournament will be posted next week, so stay tuned!  And as always, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to give us a call at 800-827-2249 or email us any time!

Million Dollar Shoot-out Signage

So you’re purchasing Million Dollar Shoot out coverage through Hole In One International?  That’s great!  Did you know that when you do so, a free sign with the sponsor’s name and prize description is included?

When it comes to customizing your Million Dollar Shootout sign, there are many factors to take into consideration.  Although the prize description for the Million Dollar Shoot-out sign is not customizable, Hole In One International still allows you a lot of leeway with what you can do with the “Sponsor Name” portion of the sign.

Information
What kind of information do you want the sponsor portion of your sign to contain?  Many people prefer to merely have the company/organization name on there; others prefer the latter along with an individual’s name or address and/or phone number.  Make sure you think about how you want your sign to read.

Artwork
Rather than just having plain text on the sign, Hole In One International allows logos and artwork, so long as the image you provide us is high-resolution quality.  Perhaps you’d like your company/organization’s logo on the sign, or maybe you’d like to couple your artwork/logo with some plain text at the bottom.  There are a variety of different ways to go about doing this.

Visibility
One other thing you’ll definitely want to pay attention to (which is often overlooked) is the visibility of your sign. Since the printed area with the sponsor’s name is only 11″x17″ (the sign itself is 30″x30″), the more text you place on your sign, the smaller the visibility will be.  If you plan on only having your company/organization name typed on the sign, the text will be large and easy-to-read; however, if you want more detailed information typed on the sign, such as an individual’s name, phone number or address, then the text will be smaller and perhaps a bit less easy to read.  Make sure if you’re using artwork/logos that the image is vibrant in color and that the color of the text on the logo (if applicable) does not clash with the background color.

When Hole In One International creates your Million Dollar Shoot out signage, they will gladly send you a proof of the sponsor’s name area if requested.  To request a proof, all you have to do is email us with the request… or you’re always welcome to give us a call at 800-827-2249!  Along with the request, Hole In One International will also need the contract/application number that your policy is under.  If you have any other questions about Million Dollar Shootout signage, or hole in 1 coverage in general, feel free to contact us Monday through Friday between the  hours of 6am and 5pm Pacific.

Want Better Golf Signage? Add A QR Code

QRSponsorsignAs a golf tournament planner or sponsor you probably already know having golf signage with your business’ name/logo advertised is bound to catch some eyes and help boost business.  But did you know that Hole In One International can help you make your signage even more effective by embedding a QR code?

For several years, Hole In On International has offered clients the ability to embed customized logos in their signage, but these days you can do more! Since Covid-19, we’ve all become more familiar with how QR codes work and most of us have QR code readers imbedded in our phone.  Now, whenever you opt for Hole In One International’s free signage or purchase sponsor signs for your event ($25/each or 18 for $360), you have the option to email us your artwork, complete with a custom QR code, and we’ll apply it to your sign… for no additional cost!  It’s that easy!

Want to see it in action?  Simply click the image on this post to see a great example of QR usage on signage!  Want to do even more with your QR code? Our sister company Odds On Promotions can help turn your QR code into a contest where tournament participants can get an additional chance to win big.

Where To Place Sponsor Signage

With the contest signage Hole In One International provides as part of your insurance package, all signage must be placed at its designated hole on the golf course where the advertised prize is being given away, otherwise, it can become a liability.

But, when it comes to sponsor signs (seen here on the left) where you place them, is up to you!

That being said, when putting up sponsor signs at a golf outing, you’re obviously going to want to put them somewhere they will easily be seen.  We’ve asked avid golfer and General Manager with Hole In One International, Carlos Concha, where the best spots to place sponsor signs would be for maximum visibility and sponsor recognition.

According to Concha, “For those who plan on placing a sponsor sign at each hole out on the golf course, you’ll want to place them on the tee box – that way when the player approaches the tee from the cart, the sign is the first thing they’ll see.”

But we’re only purchasing one or two sponsor signs!  What then?

“In this case, you’d want to consider placing one —preferably a ” Sponsored By” sign – out on the first hole.  The registration table is another great location where people are bound to see the sign with your name and/or logo on it.”

Have any other questions about sponsor signs or need more ideas on what you can do to make the most of them and your golf tournament?  Feel free to send us an email or give us a call at 800-827-2249.

P.S. Selling sponsor signs is a great way to increase revenue at your tournament.

Reward Your Sponsors With Affordable Signage!

With most of Hole In One International’s golf contest insurance packages, you will receive free signage so long as the necessary paperwork is received at least 10 calendar days prior to the tournament date.

What’s more, we’ll incorporate your sponsor’s logos free of charge! All we need is an emailed file of the logo (.tiff, .gif and .eps formats preferred) and your sponsor(s) will be well on the way to recognition in no time!

In case you didn’t know, all of Hole In One International’s insurance packages include one customizable target sign that contains the prize description and sponsor’s name.  All contest signs are 30×30″ and have a printed area of 11×17″ – so just remember:  if you’re sticking with text only, less is more.  You don’t want the visibility to be too small.

If auxiliary signage applies to your package (tournament formats only), you’ll also receive pre-printed signs which announce your complimentary prizes. Stakes and tee markers are included with all signage free of charge.

You’ll also want to check out the sponsor signs that available for purchase on our website, or you can also contact us and we’ll send you an order form.

Our sponsor signs are 24×30″ with a printed area of 11×17″ and are in the shape of a golf ball.  They are made of heavy-duty, weatherproof Coroplast… which means you’re able to re-use them and save yourself some money!

We have specific signs designed for closest to the pin, longest drive and straightest drive contests.  Not holding any contests and looking for signs that are a bit more generalized?  No worries – we have those too!  Logos can also be applied to these as well – just email them over!
